Computational Structural Biology Services

  • The mission of the Computational Structural Biology Unit is to empower life sciences researchers at the Technion and its affiliated hospitals by providing structural bioinformatics consulting and assisting researchers in the analysis, expanding their results and providing an additional layer of knowledge and understanding to their data.
  • Our activity is complementary and closely tied to the experimental data obtained by biological and biomedical research, guiding and analyzing experimental results by using the most advanced structural computational tools and algorithms
  • Examples of our tools and capabilities are: modeling of macromolecular structures and ligands with AI-based modeling such as alphafold2/3, RosseTTA etc; molecular dynamics simulations with Amber suite and AI tools; molecular docking with pyDock; Identification of functional amino acids in proteins; Understanding the impact of mutations, and more.

Main Objectives:

  • Continue to provide structural bioinformatics consulting, using computational methods and tools to assist researchers and medical doctors.
  • Constantly expanding our state of the art skills and expertise by acquiring and learning new software and implementing new methods to ensure the best consulting and useful results.
  • Teach bioinformatics courses for graduate students to introduce cutting edge technologies and research tools and ideas, new computational approaches, tools and algorithms for the broad community of students at the Technion Campus.
